October 06, 2008- Loon Information
What is the proper procedure if you were to find a dead loon? We recently had this happen, and wanted to spread the word as to protocol-
You should notify the Game Warden...if he doesn't come or can't, then an authorized person should freeze the loon immediately and see that it gets to Maine Audubon or Tufts Vet School for an autopsy and diagnostic test for cause of death and lead & mercury content, etc. We are looking to inform all Square Pond land owners on different situations. If you have a good tip, pass it on to me, and I will post it!
September 22, 2008- Winter watch
We are all set for the winter watch to begin in December.
If you are a member, please take a moment and send us your information to be able to reach you should your home get damage in the winter.
You can send a phone number you may be reached at, your name, Square Pond street address and email-that would be helpful, should we need it to: president@squarepondme.com
This will help us in establishing a phone list for our members-something we do not have a complete list of, and will cut back on our legwork of any missing numbers not currently on our records.
Hazel Stocker on the Shapleigh side of the lake has been gracious enough to be our local weather report for the snowstorms. She will email me, and in turn, I will post it immediately on the website, so we can keep track of the snowfall at the lake-Thanks Hazel!
September 05, 2008- Membership Drive
Congrat's once again to the "Double G" team of Harlan & Paula Glover on winning the membership drive with 19 new member sign-ups! The membership drive once again was a success! Everybody enjoyed talking to their neighbors around the lake-and were well received. This drive brings our membership up to a record 220 plus members. Thanks again to the volunteers that helped make this successful! You all did a fantastic job-
