February 11, 2010- Snowfall Report

Hazel Stocker has sent along a snowfall report for this winter. This year she reports a total of 12 storms and a total of 57". Last year there were a total of 15 storms with a 75 1/2" snowfall recorded. She also reports that Route 11 going down towards Sanford is a mess of frost heaves...especially in the area of Pump Box brook below the Baptist Church is all broken up-

February 11, 2010- SPIA recognition

Joe Anderson with the York County S&WCD will be recognizing the Square Pond Improvement Association in appreciation of valuable contributions by creating awareness and enhancing water quality in the Square Pond Watershed. Phil Gannon and Sandy Kendall will be on hand to receive the Certificate. Thanks to each member of the Square Pond Improvement Association for your individual contributions. This is quite an honor!

January 26, 2010- Fishing Tournament

There is a fishing tournament hosted by Sanfor Elks MCCP Committee on Sunday February 28 from 6am-3pm. Registration Fee is $10.00 and the registration and fish check will be on West Shore Drive. Maximum of 5 lines per angler/Must have a 2010 Maine Fishing License/All fish must be caught on Square Pond. Prizes will be awarded at 3pm for the largest trout or bass by length. GRAND PRIZE is Cabela's Ice Fishing Kit (on display at Sanford Elks Lodge)Retail Value $500. 2nd and 3rd prizes TBD Sponsored by CABELA'S

October 31, 2009- Membership 2009, and Notes-

Well, we have great news to report! Our membership drive numbers are at a record high! Not sure when, if ever- our numbers have reached over 300 members. We are at 320 members. We have almost tripled the membership over the last couple of summers! Thanks to the volunteers, and also the leadership team for making this happen. Now, if you know me at all.... our goal for next year will be a stretch goal of 400. We can do it, and will do it together. Thanks, and I hope wherever you lay your hat over the winter and call home, may you be well and enjoy your winter-
